A Tribe Called Quest to Honor Phife Dawg at Memorial in Queens

The late Phife Dawg, who passed away on March 22, will be recollected at an open remembrance reported by A Tribe Called Quest. "The Celebration of Phife" is set to occur at St. Albans Park in Queens, N.Y., on Monday (April 4).

“To all our loving fans: Please meet us at St. Albans Park in Queens, NY on April 4th at 10:30am,” A Tribe Called Quest posted. “The first 200 fans to arrive will receive something very special!”

While fans in Queens will praise the life of Phife Dawg on Monday, performers and hip-hop essayists have additionally been offering their regards since news of his demise broke.

“My favorite Phife verse is from a song on Midnight Marauders called 'God Lives Through,' where he connects his success and his group’s success to the ultimate success of New York hip-hop,” Talib Kweli wrote in an essay. “He shouts out the Queens rappers who were large at the time, showing that at the end of the day, he was all about the hip-hop community.”
