Q-Tip Christened Kennedy Center's First Artistic Director for Hip Hop Culture Series

To pay tribute to the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts' approaching Hip Hop Culture series, rap legend Q-Tip has been named the project's first Artistic Director. The Tribe Called Quest veteran will curate the series at the Washington D.C. focus, which will investigate the way of life crosswise over deejaying, emceeing, breakdancing, graffiti composing, and information of self.

"With Hip Hop always showing signs of change and developing, it is anything but difficult to overlook the history and legacy that go before it," Q-Tip, Kennedy Center Artistic Director for Hip Hop Culture, said in an official statement. "I need to start toward the start of the Culture to individuals see its roots, better comprehend its present, and dependably make its future."

The productive DJ/rapper/maker will likewise be working in pair with the visual expressions association Hi-ARTS, which has been teaming up with the Kennedy Center for as far back as 15 years in building up the DC Hip Hop Theater Festival and in addition co-creating the Center's 2014 One Mic: Hip Hop Culture Worldwide celebration.
