Kendrick Lamar Will be Stephen Colbert's First 'Late Show' Musical Guest

Kendrick Lamar will be Stephen Colbert's first musical guest on The Late Show this fall, the new late night host announced at the Television Critics Association press tour on Monday.

Colbert said it was only fitting to invite Lamar to kick off the show's Sept. 8 launch since the Compton rapper was his last musical guest on The Colbert Report.

"All I really want from a guest is someone who has something to say so I can play with them," he said, as Variety reports. "When you’re interviewing people you don’t know what’s going to happen. That’s how I learned my craft."
